ONLINE EVENT | Thinkers+Shakers Speaker Series - Beyond Burnout with Suzi McAlpine

Convergence Partners

We are delighted to welcome Suzi McAlpine, author of the bestselling book, Beyond Burnout. In conversation with Convergence Partners' Dave Rees, Suzi will share insights into the costs and causes of burnout, and actionable steps HR leaders can take to create organisational cultures and environments that reduce the incidence of workplace stress and burnout.

Employee wellbeing is finally gaining the attention it needs and deserves. Increasingly, organisations are appreciating that the investment in supporting emotional resilience and mental health has a direct and positive impact on productivity and employee retention, as a function of a happier and more engaged workforce.

Among workplace stress, burnout is particularly pernicious. A 2020 Workplace Wellbeing Study across Australia and New Zealand revealed as many as 61% of people showed signs of exhaustion, a key indicator of burnout. Fortunately, thought leaders like Suzi McAlpine are making valuable contributions to helping organisations better understand how they can identify and tackle the problem.

Tailored to a senior HR audience, this 30 minute session delivered via Zoom will include some of the most valuable lessons and insights learned from organisations in New Zealand and internationally, enabling attendees to:

  • Understand the true organisational cost
  • Learn the main causes of burnout and who is most at risk
  • Take away key actions your organisation can implement to reduce workplace stress & burnout

Suzi and Dave's discussion will be followed by a 15 minute Q&A with Suzi. Put your questions to her on the day or in advance when registering.

Meet Suzi McAlpine
After graduating from Massey University with a Bachelor of Business Studies (First Class Hons) in Management, Suzi spent 10 years as an Associate Director and shareholder at OCG Consulting where she was part of the management team who led the business through double digit growth before selling the business to a multinational.

She then spent four years as a Managing Consultant at Futurestep, a division of Korn Ferry, partner to over 93% of Fortune 100 companies, before starting her own business, McAlpine Coaching, in 2011.

In 2012, Suzi started The Leader’s Digest, now an internationally acclaimed blog, which provides tips and insights to CEOs and executives around the globe. The blog has been named in CMOE’s Top 100 Socially-Shared Leadership Blogs, Serve To Lead’s Best 21st Century Leadership Blogs, Charles Specht’s Top 50 Global Leadership Bloggers, Hubworks Global Top 25 Leadership and Management Blogs and MP Star Financials’ global Top 25 Leadership Blogs for Small Business.

In 2018, she launched an online leadership programme for emerging leaders, The Leader’s Map. The programme fills a void in the leadership arena, teaching leadership skills and providing support to people who are thrust into roles in which they must lead. The programme gives emerging leaders the necessary tools to succeed in their role. Suzi lives with her husband and three children in Nelson, New Zealand, which means she is on a plane most weeks, but she doesn’t mind because Nelson is the sunniest city in New Zealand!
